The project attempts to deploy digital modelling tools such as grasshopper to design a double Helix stair which is carved out of the shape of an egg. The elipsoidal volume permits a variation in the openness of the stair, peeping in and out of the volume.
The project develops a stereotomic approach to the stair by carving voids into the soffit, into the ellipsoid and into the envelope to produce a varied experience across the ascent. It also registers to varying degrees the location depth of the stair relative to the outer shell on the exterior envelope.
