To engage CARTHA’s ‘Sincere Fun’ for the University of Manitoba, BROWN BAGS proposes a performative meal and discussion, situated within the School’s A2 Gallery, as a way to open up new dialectics around subversive aesthetics.
The event draws from both the complicated history of the brown bag (across gender, race, law, propriety among other categories) and the connection between subversiveness and the built environment, seeking to explore subversive approaches to the practice of architecture and design through possible aesthetic and material manifestations.
