Hidden Room

Architecture Core I / 2015
Harvard Graduate School of Design / Prof. Mariana Ibanez
Starting with the challenge of designing a sequence of five rooms experienced as four, the project aims to tap into the enigmatic worlds of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome and overlaps the two layered domed sections.
With the aim to expose a hidden interstitial space serving structurally for the domes, the project tilts the typical dome into the horizontal plane and produces via a series of stairs a path through the sequence. The fifth room intersects the four domes, hidden in plain sight.
